Partners\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Asia-Pacific region&nbsp;is&nbsp;playing&nbsp;a key role in shaping&nbsp;the future of international higher education.&nbsp;At&nbsp;the 2026&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iie.org\/events\/iie-at-apaie-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Asia-Pacific Association for International Education<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iie.org\/events\/iie-at-apaie-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">(APAIE) Conference<\/a>&nbsp;in&nbsp;Hong Kong, the&nbsp;Institute of International Education (IIE)&nbsp;reinforced its long-standing strategic&nbsp;partnerships&nbsp;and initiatives that create opportunities for universities, governments, students, and scholars&nbsp;in the region and&nbsp;worldwide.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For&nbsp;more than 60 years, IIE has&nbsp;maintained&nbsp;deep engagement across&nbsp;the&nbsp;Asia-Pacific, supported by&nbsp;its&nbsp;offices and collaborations with universities, governments, and organizations throughout the region.&nbsp;With teams based in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iie.org\/about\/offices\/east-asia-and-the-pacific\/bangkok\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bangkok<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iie.org\/about\/offices\/south-and-central-asia\/new-delhi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New Delhi<\/a>,&nbsp;and other cities across&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iie.org\/about\/offices\/east-asia-and-the-pacific\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">East Asia and the Pacific<\/a>,&nbsp;IIE works closely with&nbsp;stakeholders&nbsp;to strengthen global academic collaboration, support student mobility, and foster pathways to higher education.&nbsp;As demand for STEM&nbsp;skills increases,&nbsp;IIE has been selected to administer several&nbsp;in-demand, global&nbsp;education programs&nbsp;with&nbsp;a presence in&nbsp;the Asia-Pacific, including&nbsp;the following programs:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iie.org\/programs\/oceanfuturesfellowship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ocean Futures Fellowship<\/a>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iie.org\/blog\/the-quad-fellowship-expands-to-japan-and-beyond\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Quad Fellowship<\/a>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iie.org\/programs\/avery-dennison-foundation-envirochamp-fellowship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Avery Dennison Foundation\u00a0EnviroChamp\u00a0Fellowship<\/a>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iie.org\/news\/iie-and-kiat-launch-enrichment-program-for-stem-students\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Korea-U.S. Special Exchange Program for STEM students<\/a>\u00a0(KORUS)\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iie.org\/programs\/international-academic-partnership-program\/iapp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">International Academic Partnership Program in Thailand<\/a>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>IIE\u2019s work also extends to&nbsp;those affected by crises&nbsp;such as displacement due to extreme weather and civil war;&nbsp;through its&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iie.org\/crisis-response\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Crisis Response initiatives<\/a>&nbsp;such as&nbsp;the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iie.org\/programs\/iie-odyssey-scholarship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Odyssey Scholarship<\/a>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scholarrescuefund.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Scholar Rescue&nbsp;Fund<\/a>,&nbsp;IIE&nbsp;provides&nbsp;vital opportunities for&nbsp;the growing number of&nbsp;students and scholars affected by conflict,&nbsp;displacement, or unrest&nbsp;in this region.&nbsp;Since 2018, IIE\u2019s Southeast Asia regional office in Bangkok has awarded more than 300 scholarships to refugees from Myanmar.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;APAIE&nbsp;Conference&nbsp;brought together universities, policymakers, scholarship providers, and international education organizations to explore the theme,&nbsp;<em>Asia-Pacific Partnerships for the Global Good.<\/em>&nbsp;\u201cInternational partnerships are evolving rapidly, and institutions need data-driven insights to navigate this changing landscape,\u201d said Jonah&nbsp;Kokodyniak, Executive Vice President at IIE. \u201cThrough our collaboration with APAIE, we look forward to bringing stronger Asia-Pacific perspectives into the global conversation and providing governments and institutions with practical insights to build meaningful, sustainable partnerships.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout the conference, IIE leaders shared their&nbsp;expertise,&nbsp;facilitated&nbsp;critical&nbsp;discussions&nbsp;in five sessions,&nbsp;and&nbsp;convened&nbsp;a global partners reception and corollary meetings.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" At-Risk Students and Scholars&nbsp;in the Region<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Extreme weather such as flooding&nbsp;and&nbsp;earthquakes&nbsp;and other long-term crises&nbsp;have&nbsp;displaced&nbsp;more than&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unhcr.org\/asia\/news\/announcements\/asia-pacific-regional-trends-report-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">17 million&nbsp;people<\/a>&nbsp;throughout the Asia-Pacific.&nbsp;In the&nbsp;panel,&nbsp;<em>Partnerships for the Global Good: Expanding Opportunity for At-Risk Students and Scholars,<\/em>&nbsp;IIE President&nbsp;Jason Czyz&nbsp;joined global leaders to discuss the role of collaborative initiatives in supporting displaced and vulnerable learners.&nbsp;\u201cPartnerships are the foundation of international&nbsp;education\u2019s&nbsp;impact,\u201d said Czyz. \u201cWhen institutions, governments, and organizations work together across borders, we can support talented students and scholars and create opportunities for them to contribute to their communities and the world.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other&nbsp;IIE-led&nbsp;sessions highlighted sustainable global&nbsp;student&nbsp;mobility programs, innovative models for collaboration, and pathways to higher education for students facing significant barriers. These discussions also emphasized&nbsp;how&nbsp;IIE\u2019s&nbsp;Crisis Response&nbsp;initiatives like&nbsp;the&nbsp;Odyssey&nbsp;Scholarship&nbsp;provide tangible, life-changing support to learners navigating crises while reinforcing the broader role of strategic partnerships in international&nbsp;education.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>IIE Global E3 Consortium:&nbsp;Preparing Engineers&nbsp;for&nbsp;a&nbsp;Global Workforce&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>APAIE provided a forum for IIE to engage members of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iie.org\/programs\/global-e3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IIE&nbsp;Global E3 Consortium,<\/a>&nbsp;a network of leading engineering institutions committed to expanding international mobility for engineering students. IIE hosted a Global E3 meetup, bringing together institutional representatives to exchange perspectives, reconnect, and explore opportunities for strengthening engineering exchange programs in the region. The gathering highlighted the consortium\u2019s commitment to preparing engineers for a global workforce through international collaboration.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Celebrating Global Partnerships<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond formal sessions, APAIE offered an opportunity to reconnect with long-standing partners and cultivate new collaborations. These engagements reflected the breadth of IIE\u2019s work,&nbsp;from promoting&nbsp;global&nbsp;student mobility to ensuring that&nbsp;at-risk learners can continue their education.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Looking Ahead<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Collaboration across institutions&nbsp;and&nbsp;sectors&nbsp;remains&nbsp;essential to strengthening research, fostering academic collaboration, and preparing students to thrive in a globally connected world.&nbsp;\u201cGatherings like APAIE remind us how interconnected our work is,\u201d said Czyz. \u201cThe relationships built here lead to new collaborations, innovative programs, and new possibilities for students and scholars around the world.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As IIE continues its work with
